How to use the seed map

  1. Enter your seed

Type /seed in Java, or copy the seed from the world settings in Bedrock, and paste it into the seed box. Text seeds work too.

  2. Pick your edition and version

Java and Bedrock place structures differently, and world generation changes between updates, so match the world you play in.

  3. Explore

Drag to move and scroll or pinch to zoom. Hover to read the coordinates, chunk and biome under your cursor, and click any marker to copy its coordinates or a /tp command.

  4. Share the view

The address bar keeps your seed, edition and position, so the Share button copies a link that opens exactly what you see.

What the map shows

Every colour is a biome, using the same palette as most seed tools, so plains are light green, deserts sand-coloured and oceans blue. The markers are structures. Zoom in to see the smaller ones: buried treasure only shows when you are close.

  • Villages (Overworld)
  • Strongholds (Overworld)
  • Ancient Cities (Overworld)
  • Woodland Mansions (Overworld)
  • Ocean Monuments (Overworld)
  • Pillager Outposts (Overworld)
  • Desert Pyramids (Overworld)
  • Jungle Temples (Overworld)
  • Witch Huts (Overworld)
  • Nether Fortresses (Nether)
  • Bastion Remnants (Nether)
  • End Cities (End)

Switch to the Nether or End with the dimension buttons. In the Nether the map shows fortresses and bastions; in the End, End cities.

A seed viewer and seed finder in one

Most players use the map as a seed viewer: paste the seed of the world you already play and see where everything is. It works as a seed finder too. Hit the dice button to roll random seeds and look for a spawn you like, or start from our list of best Minecraft seeds, each already checked on this map. Because every view has its own link, you can send a friend the exact spot you found.

Bedrock seed map: Java vs Bedrock seeds

Since the 1.18 update, Java and Bedrock share almost the same biome generation, so a seed gives nearly the same landscape in both. Structures are placed with different rules, though: a village next to spawn in Java can be somewhere else entirely in Bedrock. Always set the edition before you go looking for something. Switch to Bedrock above the map to use it as a Bedrock seed map; it covers Bedrock 1.18 and newer on every platform, from phones to consoles.

How accurate is it?

The map runs cubiomes, an open-source reimplementation of Minecraft's world generation, compiled to run in your browser. Java uses the xpple fork for the newest versions, and Bedrock uses cubiomes-bedrock. Biomes and structure positions match the game for the version you choose. A structure marker means the game tries to build it there and the biome allows it; rarely, the terrain stops it from appearing.

Seed map questions

How do I find my Minecraft world seed?

In Java, type /seed in chat. In single player you need cheats on, or open the world to LAN with cheats allowed. In Bedrock, open the world's settings from the world list or the pause menu; the seed is listed with the world options. On a server, ask an admin: only operators can run /seed.

Is the seed map accurate?

Biomes and structure positions come from cubiomes, an open-source copy of Minecraft's own world generation, so they match the game for the version you pick. Each structure marker is a spot where the game tries to build that structure and the biome allows it. Very occasionally the terrain stops one from appearing in-game, so check the version setting first if something seems missing.

Do Java and Bedrock seeds make the same world?

Since 1.18, the same seed gives nearly the same biome layout in Java and Bedrock. Structures are placed differently, so villages, strongholds and other structures sit in different spots. Pick the edition you play on.

Which Minecraft versions does the map support?

Java 1.18 to 26.3 and Bedrock 1.18 to 26.60. Older versions generate completely different worlds and are not included.

Can I use a word as a seed?

Yes. Like the game, the map turns any text that is not a whole number into a number with Java's string hash, so "minecraft" and the number it becomes show the same world.

Why can I not see some biomes?

Deep Dark, Lush Caves and Dripstone Caves only exist underground. The surface map shows what you see at ground level; the biome finder can search cave depth for them.

Is my seed sent anywhere?

No. The whole map is calculated in your browser, so your seed never leaves your device. Use the Share button if you want a link to the exact view.
