How HCF works

HCF, short for Hardcore Factions, is Factions built around competitive PvP. Teams have a size limit and claim land out in the map, away from a protected spawn. Die and you are deathbanned: locked out of the map for a set time unless you use a life.

Each faction has a DTR (deaths till raidable) value that drops when its members die. Once it falls to zero or below, the faction is raidable and other teams can break into its claim. A map opens with SOTW (start of the world), when PvP is off for a while, runs KOTH (king of the hill) events where a team must hold a capture zone for a set time to win loot, and ends with EOTW (end of the world), when every faction becomes raidable before the reset.

Most HCF servers play 1.8-style combat with splash healing potions, enchantment limits, and an ender pearl cooldown. Many networks also run a Kitmap: HCF rules with free kits and no deathban.
