What does SMP stand for in Minecraft?

SMP stands for Survival Multiplayer: a shared survival world where players gather resources, build, and progress together. Public SMPs let anyone join; whitelisted SMPs need approval from the owners first.

How do I join a Minecraft Java server?

Copy the server address, open Minecraft Java Edition, choose Multiplayer, then Add Server. Paste the address, save it, and select Join Server. Keep any port after a colon, and use the game version the server supports.

How do I join a server on Minecraft Bedrock?

Choose Play, open the Servers tab, scroll down, and select Add Server. Enter a name, the address, and the port (19132 unless the listing shows another), then save and join. Consoles only list featured servers by default, so joining other servers there usually needs an extra workaround.
